From 2010 to 2020, working as a specialist in “Dentistry for People with Special Needs” at a reference center of the SUS/DF, I had the need and the opportunity to develop a multidisciplinary approach, in favor of many patients whose physical/mental/behavioral disabilities prevented them from cooperating during their outpatient care. These patients were already regularly using psychotropic medications, antihistamines, neuroleptics, etc. and, however, had great difficulty sitting in the dental chair and allowing me and my assistants to perform the basic procedures necessary to restore their oral health. There were many patients with Cerebral Palsy who presented involuntary movements, seizures, bruxism and respiratory syndromes, many others with Down Syndrome and its periodontal disorders. Hundreds of autistic patients with their behavioral syndrome aggravated by comorbidities, in addition to patients with Alzheimer's and all their resistance to opening their mouths. Finally, thousands of cases were treated in a nearly conventional office in a public hospital in Brasília. What does Homeopathy have to do with this? Thanks to our Dentistry/Homeopathy approach, within the SUS/DF itself, we were able to improve hundreds of illnesses that made it difficult for these patients to adhere to outpatient dental treatment. The intervention of Homeopathy was decisive in controlling anxiety, fear/phobias, spasticity, also reducing allergic processes, bruxism, hypotonia, convulsions and promoting tissue recovery. All of this made possible a humanized, effective dental treatment that frees people with disabilities from suffering from pain, infections, bad breath, etc. without having to wait months or years for a place for sedation or general anesthesia. Thanks to the support, competence and dedication of homeopathic doctors, we were able to expand these users' access to the SUS oral health program. This is SOCIAL INCLUSION!
